   welcome

Welcome to St. Mary Elementary School! We serve the families who live in the community of Riverbend in southwest Edmonton. Surrounding neighbourhoods include Haddow, Falconer Heights, Henderson Estates, Rhatigan Ridge, Ramsay Heights, Brookside, Brander Gardens, and Windermere Estates. The St. Mary/St. Monica is one school with two campuses This unique organizational design enhances the learning opportunities for children in kindergarten to grade 6. Our St. Monica Campus is an Early Learning Centre where we weave our tales of wonder, create a place and space to dream and to believe in our hearts...all that is beautiful for children (K-1). Our St. Mary Campus is a Grade 2 – 6 learning community where the journey continues and personal academic success is encouraged and achieved. A partnership with Concordia College, Grant MacEwan and the University of Alberta through teacher education and research
plays a significant role in our work with children.

Through a shared vision of relational work, we place our “Children First” in all decisions which impact student learning. We are committed to building a Catholic, Christian Community which prepares and inspires our children to be symbols of light and hope in an ever-changing world. The Professional Learning School has at its core student learning. Honouring human potential - academic, spiritual, creative, physical, emotional and social development is an educational goal of St. Mary/St. Monica School. Teaching and learning is focused on research and “leading practices” resulting in high academic achievement at the district and provincial levels.

Our professional staff is highly committed to academic excellence and a progressive philosophy of education. Through teacher commitment, parent enthusiasm and an enriched learning environment, we capture the imagination of children and challenge their thinking and desire to learn.

We look forward to working with you and trust that this year will be a rewarding educational experience for your child in a Christ-centred environment where our Catholic faith is celebrated.
